This tender Broiled New York Steak is seasoned to perfection and broiled to a beautiful dark brown with a pad of golden brown butter that soaks into the steak for even more flavor and juiciness.
2-16ounceNew York steaks 1 1/2 – 2 inches thickSee notes
3tablespoonsolive oil
3teaspoonskosher salt
1teaspoonblack pepper
2tablespoonsbutter
Instructions
Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes.
Rearrange the racks in your oven to be 3-4 inches from the broiling element, and preheat the broiler on high for 2-3 minutes.
Rub the olive oil on both sides of the steak and evenly sprinkle the salt and pepper on both sides.
Place the steaks on a broiling pan or baking sheet with a wire rack and place under the broiler. Broil for 4-5 minutes.
Flip the steaks over and broil another 3-5 minutes or until desired doneness.
Transfer steak to a platter or cutting board, place 1 tablespoon of butter on each steak and let rest 5 minutes. Slice the steaks against the grain and sprinkle more salt to taste.
Notes
You can use my garlic herb butter instead of regular butter.If your oven has a high and low broiling option I would do the higher one. Just always keep an eye on it as all ovens run a bit differntly.If your steaks are thinner you will need to adjust the cooking time accordingly this is for 1 1/2-2 inch thickness.Rare steak: 3-4 minutes on each side (120-130F) Medium-rare steak: 4-5 minutes on each side (130-140F ) Medium steak: 5-6 minutes on each side (140-150F)
