Philly Cheesesteak French Bread Pizza combines two favorite flavors thinly sliced steak, sautéed onions, and melted provolone cheese atop a crispy French bread crust.
Place the rib eye on a cutting board and cut into thin strips. (You can pop it into the freezer for 1 hour to help with the slices)
Heat a large skillet on medium high heat and add 2 tablespoons olive oil. Add the steak, salt and pepper and cook for 3-4 minutes flipping halfway through. Add in the Worcestershire sauce and give it a toss. Remove steak to a plate (it’s okay if it still has pink it will cook a little more in the oven.)
Reduce the heat to medium low and add the remaining olive oil and add in the green peppers and onions cook 2-3 minutes just until soft. Add in the garlic and cook another minute.
Place the French bread on a cutting board and slice the loaf in half lengthwise.
Spread the mayonnaise evenly over the halves. Place 4 slices of cheese on each half. Optional: You can place the french bread slices on a piece of aluminium foil with it scrunches around the pizza to help it stay flat.
Place the green peppers and onions evenly over the cheese, followed by the steak (don’t forget the delicious juice).
Finally add the rest of the cheese slices on top and bake.
Remove from the oven and cut into slices and serve!
Notes
You can use any high quality steak just make sure you cut it into thin slices preferable against the grain. If you get a steak with a bone in it allow for the extra weight, you want about 8 ounces of meat.Mozzarella cheese or Pepper jack cheese can also be used.
