  • Taco Seasoning: You can use my homemade taco seasoning.
  • Ranch Seasoning Mix:
  • Chicken Stock: Infuses the chicken with a bit more flavor and helps it stay tender and juicy as it slow cooks.

How to Make Slow Cooker Ranch Chicken Tacos

  • Step 1: Place chicken breasts in a slow cooker with taco seasoning, ranch dressing mix, and chicken stock.
  • Step 2: Cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4. Shred chicken with two forks and add cilantro, then assemble your tacos and enjoy!

  • I like to use soft tortillas (both flour tortillas and corn tortillas are great for this ranch chicken tacos recipe), but you can also use crunchy taco shells.
  • Feel free to substitute boneless, skinless chicken thighs if you prefer dark meat.
  • If you want a creamier filling, mix some cream cheese in with the chicken.

What's in ranch seasoning?

Most ranch seasoning packets will contain some combination of onion powder and/or onion flakes, dill, parsley, garlic powder, dried chives, and salt and black pepper.

Can I prep this ahead of time?

Yes! You can add all the ingredients (uncooked) to a freezer bag and store it for up to 3 months. Just thaw overnight and cook as directed.

Can I use ranch dressing in the bottle instead of the seasoning packet?

It’s best to stick with the dry ranch seasoning for this recipe. Bottled ranch dressing adds too much liquid and can make the mixture watery.

  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 pkg taco seasoning
  • 1 pkg ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 1/4 cup cilantro
  • 12 Flour or corn tortillas
  • 1 bottle Ranch dressing
  • cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, onions

Instructions
 

  • Add the chicken to a slow cooker along with the taco seasoning, ranch seasoning, chicken stock.
  • Cook for 3-4 hours on high or 6-8 hours on low.
  • Shred the chicken with two forks and add the chopped cilantro.
  • Place the chicken into the taco shells and add your favorite taco toppings and ranch dressing.

Notes

  • Boneless skinless chicken thighs will also work.
  • If you have leftover chicken, transfer to an airtight container and store in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.
