Ravioli recipes like my Baked Ravioli with a Vodka Cream Sauce are always wildly popular and belly-filling. I crave the layers of pasta and cheesy goodness of this layered ravioli lasagna just as much as I want the Creamy Cheesy Chicken Tetrazzini.
Why Make Ravioli in the Slow Cooker
Making ravioli in the Slow Cooker is not only easy, but it's satisfying. You know you'll be providing an easy meal that your whole family will enjoy.
This Crockpot meal is a no-brainer for the next time you have one of those crazy, busy weeknights when you need dinner on the table and you know that you won't have much time later in the day. You only need 10 minutes of prep time and then let the Crock pot do its thing and make the magic happen for this ultimate comfort food!
Easy Recipe Ingredients
- Meat: Ground beef and Italian Sausage
- Herbs and spices: salt, black pepper, minced garlic cloves, and fresh basil
- Ravioli: Any flavor will work.
- Spaghetti sauce: Use your favorite jarred sauce.
- Onion: White or yellow works.
- Cheese: Shredded mozzarella cheese and grated parmesan cheese
How to Make Ravioli in the Slow Cooker
- Step 1: Heat your skillet and add the ground beef, Italian sausage, diced onion, and garlic. Cook until the meat is browned. Drain off any excess grease.
- Step 2: Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce to the skillet and mix.
- Step 3: Transfer half the sauce to the bottom of your slow cooker, then add a single layer of frozen ravioli and some shredded cheese.
- Step 4: Add another layer of sauce followed by the rest of the ravioli and the last of the shredded cheese. Close the lid on this delicious meal and let the Crockpot do its job. Once the ravioli casserole is finished, let it sit, and sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese, and garnish with fresh basil.
Recipe Tips
- Lean ground sirloin or ground chicken could be used in place of ground beef.
- I think it's a great idea to serve a big plate of this with a nice side salad and some of your favorite breadsticks or homemade garlic bread.
- Instead of mixing ground beef and Italian sausage, you can use just beef or just sausage. Whatever you prefer for this Slow-Cooker cheesy ravioli casserole.
- Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days and should be kept in the refrigerator.
- Make clean up a little bit easier by using Slow Cooker liners. Add a liner to the bottom of the Crock Pot before adding the first layer of meat sauce.
Recipe Faq's
I have only tested this recipe using frozen ravioli. Since this recipe cooks for quite a while, a few hours at the least, adding them while still frozen works. I would be nervous about using a fresh made package of ravioli in this crock pot version. I would be worried they'd overcook and start to fall apart in the Crockpot.
Yes, you certainly can. Cheese-stuffed ravioli is a common and simple kind to use, especially if you're making this for kids. But, you can change things up and use spinach and cheese ravioli, beef-filled ravioli, or whatever frozen ravioli is in the freezer.
Yes, you can freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. There's nothing like having an easy dinner recipe in the freezer, waiting on you to just thaw it out and reheat it.
