Sometimes layered desserts make people nervous or apprehensive to make them. But don't let this gorgeous dessert stop you from making it. It really is a simple to whip together and it is quickly becoming a family favorite dessert in my household. Chocolate desserts are a guilty pleasure to so many, especially those who enjoy myย Chocolate Bundt Cake with Ganache.ย
Why This Layered Chocolate Dessert Works
This layered dessert is easy to make and doesn't require a lot of time. You need about 15 minutes to actually make it.
It kind of reminds me of myย Chocolate Wafer Icebox Cakeย because it's so easy that any beginner can make it and it's always a hit, especially at family gatherings! It's fancy enough for special occasions, yet simple enough for a weeknight treat like this Banana Pudding pie.ย
Ingredients Needed
- Crust: The bottom layer is made from a package of premade Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.
- Cream Cheese Filling: Made from softened cream cheese and powdered sugar.
- Chocolate Filling: dark chocolate instant pudding mix. I'd just make sure it's the instant chocolate pudding mix to mix with the whole milk.
- Topping: I use cool whip you can also make my homemade version with optional mini chocolate chips, chocolate shavings, or chocolate curls
How to make this Chocolate Delight Recipe
- Step 1: Grab a 9x13-inch baking dish and press the cookie dough on the bottom of the dish before baking until golden brown. Remove from the oven to cool before adding the next layer.
- Step 2: In a large bowl, add the softened cream cheese and the powdered sugar and use an electric mixer to beat and mix together.
- Step 3: Once the mixture is spreadable, spread evenly over the first layer. Pop this into the fridge to chill while making the pudding. Do not let it sit at room temperature.
- Step 4: In a medium bowl, whisk the pudding mix and milk together until it gets thick.
- Step 5: Grab the dessert from the fridge and spread pudding in an even layer over the sweet cream cheese mixture before popping it back in the fridge to set.
- Step 6: Once set, add the thawed whipped topping and spread evenly before adding optional toppings. Serve immediately or cover and store in the fridge.
Recipe Tips
- Any leftovers should be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-5 days in the refrigerator.
- While I said the mini chocolate chips are optional, they really do take this chocolate dessert to a whole new level of a chocolate delight dessert. So I say use them if you have them!
- Or try garnishing with chocolate syrup.
- Chilling the cookie layer while working on the rest of the layers will help the crust stay firm once it's all layered together.
