Ingredients Needed
- Chipotle Ranch Sauce: this homemade sauce combines mayo, ranch seasoning, paprika, and finely chopped chipotle peppers.
- Ground Beef: I like to use a slightly leaner ground beef, but feel free to go with a higher percentage of fat to result in super juicy burgers.
- Seasonings: Adding ranch seasoning along with salt and black pepper gives the burgers the perfect amount of flavor.
- Aromatics: Garlic and onion give your burgers that nostalgic and savory flavor.
- Parsley
- Oil: Any kind of neutral oil (like olive oil) is good for coating the grill to prevent the burgers from sticking.
- Cheese: I like to add American cheese but you can certainly add any cheese you prefer.
How to Make this Ranch Burger Recipe
- Step 1: Make the chipotle ranch sauce by combining the mayo, ranch, peppers, and paprika in a small bowl.
- Step 2: In a separate mixing bowl, combine ground beef with diced onion, garlic, ranch seasoning, salt and black pepper, and parsley. Mix until combined and form into 6 even patties.
- Step 3: Heat a grill over high heat and brush the grill grate with oil. Place burgers over direct heat and cook for 2-4 minutes on each side.
- Step 4: Once cooked, remove from direct heat and add a slice of cheese to each burger (if using) then cook until melted. Serve on toasted buns with chipotle ranch mayo and your favorite toppings!
Recipe Tips
- Burgers are considered safe to eat at 160 degrees F or higher. Use a meat thermometer or digital thermometer to check the internal temperature to be sure!
- For a lighter version of this ranch burger recipe, use ground chicken or ground turkey instead.
- If you can't find chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, you can also mix some chipotle powder into the sauce.
- If you don't have a grill, these burgers could also be cooked in a cast iron skillet, or frying pan.
- Keep leftover burgers in an airtight container or wrap them in plastic wrap. They can be reheated in the microwave or cooked again on the grill.
- Try to make each burger patty the same size so they cook at the same rate.
Recipe FAQ's
Absolutely! Prep and form your patties and store them in the fridge for a day or so, or pop them in the freezer if you need to prep them further ahead of time. I recommend using some parchment paper or wax paper to prevent them from sticking together. If you're cooking them from frozen, they may need a couple of extra minutes of cooking time.
A typical dry ranch seasoning includes onion powder, dill, parsley, dried onion flakes, salt, pepper, and dried chives. If you can't find a ranch seasoning packet at the store, you can easily make your own by combining these ingredients in the quantity you like!
