How to Make Dipping Sauces
There are 4 types of dipping sauces you can make to go with your mummy dogs.ย
Web Sauce
To make a sauce that looks like a web, youโll use ketchup and mustard. First, fill a small bowl with ketchup. Make three circles around the bowl, each one smaller than the last. Then, put a large dot of mustard in the middle. Using a toothpick, start from the middle and pull the mustard out past the last circle to create a line. Go to the opposite end of the bowl and pull from that side. Do this 5 to 7 times to create a web design.ย
Monster Puddle
To make a monster puddle dipping sauce, you will need ketchup and green relish. Go around the outer edge of your bowl in a circular manner and make a โcup of ketchup.โ Then, fill the โcupโ with green relish. Place some candy eyes around it to create a monster puddle.ย
Ghost Sauce
Use a mini ghost cookie cutter or a sharp knife and cut out a ghost shape.ย You can cut out your eyes for more effect.ย Make a few and place them in a bowl of ketchup.ย You can also cut out bats if you want.
Bloodshot Eye Sauce
For this sauce, you will need mayonnaise and ketchup. Put some mayonnaise in a bowl and use a spoon to create a โholeโ in the middle. Fill the โholeโ with ketchup. Use a toothpick to pull the ketchup out in a squiggle line to create a bloodshot eye effect. You can add a little circle of mustard to finish the eye out.ย
Recipe Tips
If you liked this recipe, here are some other tips to keep in mind:ย
- Add cheese for more yumminess. You can roll up a piece of cheese under the crescent dough for more flavor.ย
- Make mini mummies. You can make mini mummies by cutting the hotdogs in half or using mini sausages.ย
- Make all the sauces. The sauces are all fun and the kids will love trying all the different ones.ย
What Dough Do I Need for these Mummy Dogs?
The best and easiest dough to use is a crescent roll dough that comes in sheets. You can unroll it and easily cut it into strips to make the mummies. You can also use plain crescent rolls, just pinch your seams and then cut out the strips.
How Do I Store Leftovers?
Kids and adults alike will love these mummy hot dogs, so you probably wonโt have any leftovers. But, if you do, you can store any leftover mummy dogs in an airtight container in the refrigerator. When you want to eat them, reheat them in the oven for 5 minutes so that the dough wonโt be soggy.ย
