Ingredients Needed
- Cream Cheese: Acts as a creamy base for your dip and provides a rich and slightly tangy flavor.
- Sour Cream
- Seasonings: Combine Italian seasoning with some garlic powder for the perfect savory blend.
- Pizza Sauce: Feel free to make your own, or grab a jar of your favorite sauce from the grocery store!
- Cheese: Mozzarella cheese is a classic choice here, but feel free to experiment.
- Pizza Toppings: I use black olives, green peppers, and pepperoni as a starting point.
- Dippers: Celery and bell pepper sticks are where I usually start for dipping, but this dish pairs well with a wide variety of snacks!
How to Make This Pizza Dip
- Step 1: Combine the cream cheese and sour cream in a large mixing bowl with the seasonings.
- Step 2: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly in a skillet.
- Step 3: Pour the pizza sauce over the cream cheese layer and add slices of pepperoni, then back for 5 to 8 minutes.
- Step 4: Remove from the oven and add a layer of mozzarella of cheese and the rest of your toppings. Bake for another 10 minutes or until you have nice melty cheese, then serve!
Recipe Tips
- For an extra golden brown top, finish the dip underneath the broiler for a minute or so. Just be sure not to let the cheese and toppings burn.
- Feel free to use full size pepperoni, either as-is or cut into smaller pieces.
- Add other toppings like small pieces of meatball, cooked ground beef, grilled chicken, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, or make this a Hawaiian pizza dip with ham and pineapple.
- To store leftovers of your dip, transfer to an airtight container and keep in the fridge for 2 to 3 days.
- I recommend reheating in the oven for best results, but you could try microwaving in small portions as well if you're in a hurry.
- If you like your dip to have a bit of heat, add some red pepper flakes, chili powder, or cayenne pepper.
Recipe FAQ's
Mozzarella is often a go-to option for pizza because it has a mild and delicious flavor and melts easily. Parmesan cheese is sometimes sprinkled over the top of a finished pizza as well. Add other types of cheese to this creamy dip like pepper jack, cheddar, provolone, swiss, or anything else you like!
I like to serve celery sticks and bell pepper sticks on the side, but pizza dip is also great with crackers, nice sturdy chips like pita chips and tortilla chips, or pieces of good crusty bread like sourdough or baguette slices.
